Humber Bay, April 2022

In the early hours of a spring morning, Humber Bay reveals its depth—not just in water, but in story. Where the river meets the lake, currents carry layers of earth, history, and quiet human presence. They settle into the bay, forming a foundation as rich and complex as the city that rises behind it.

This sunrise, nearly aligned with the skyline, brings those layers into view. The light breaks gently across the surface, forming horizontal bands of gold, grey, and blue—each moment of colour a reflection, a breath, a thought.

Why do we pause for these moments? Maybe the better question is—how could we not?

A new day begins. New stories form. The bay becomes a mirror, blending old and new centuries of lived experience held within the treeline, the city, the sky. Dreams, joys, disappointments, and unknown futures all hang in the still air, waiting to unfold.

On this April morning, the layers come into view. And so do we—somewhere between past and future, horizon and skyline, hope and memory.
