This is the first entry in what I hope will become a visual journal of my photography practice. Since 2006, I’ve delved deeper and deeper into photography as an art form. What began as a small tributary to my railfan hobby has transformed into a powerful stream of personal expression and artistic exploration.
To hint at a destination or an ultimate objective would feel pretentious. To claim a defined goal or purpose might even seem arrogantly naive. Instead, this journey is about self-reflection, exploration, and discovery—interpreting the world around me in the most practical and accessible way: through photography.
Over the years, my work has evolved and meandered in many directions. Some projects have been completed, while others remain ideas waiting to take form. Yet, through it all, the common thread has been the joy of observing the world and sharing those moments of perception. It’s about the luxury of pausing, reflecting, and allowing those observations to shape our understanding, enrich our experience, and perhaps even define future opportunities—for more knowledge, greater kindness, and, yes, financial security too.
I see this website—and my entire photographic practice—as more than just a gallery or an art print store. It’s more than a scroll through a social media feed. Instead, I want this space to be a collection of thoughts, impressions, and ideas expressed through words and visual language—beautiful in their imperfect vagueness.
Defining myself as an artist has always been challenging. It feels at odds with my education and career. To embrace that identity seems both a luxury and a necessity, distilled from my life experience. Yet, I don’t think of myself strictly as a computer scientist, sales professional, or even an artist. Life, after all, is more nuanced than a collection of labels.
This is a journey. I am simply a person with a camera—a passenger-observer. What you’ll find here are notes from that journey, visual or otherwise.
Is it art? Perhaps fine or coarse. Or maybe it’s the idle musings of an overprivileged hobbyist navigating a midlife identity crisis. But does that matter? IT DOES NOT MATTER. What matters is having fun, being mindful of the world around us, and sharing a bit of expressiveness and emotion along the way. And for me, that is more than enough.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
There will be more coherent discussions to come—projects and bodies of work will live as galleries. From time to time, I may also share thoughts about the process, the content, and the techniques behind the images.
The clock is ticking. Time to get going. Let’s do this.
